HEAD Genève - Heightened Self

It has been a while since I wanted to post this video! This is a collaboration with a Space and Communication Master student at HEAD: Sara Madrane and myself.  It shows my work in progress from the research I undertook around the neck, sensuality/fragility, lack of oxygen, heightened sensations and experimenting a better consciousness of oneself through living extreme experiences.




The mask in the video is made out of leather, synthetical hair and rope. It introduces an SM aesthetic and suggests asphyxiation by blocking the nose and giving the option of tightening the fringes around the neck to create a lack of oxygen. The mask's aesthetic and suggested function illustrate two aspects of the neck's imaginary- it's sensual and fragile/vital facets.

This research has been  intense as it touches visceral themes but nonetheless enriching as they raise interesting questionings about the way human beings function on a deeper level
